Players
Your account
You can play NodeMP with an account or without one.
- With an account you have the same name on every server, and servers can check it’s really you.
- In Test Drive you need no account. You get a temporary guest name, a new one each session. Some servers only let in players with an account.
Create an account
Section titled “Create an account”Accounts are made on the website: nodemp.com/register. Pick the name you want to play under, enter your e-mail and a password, then confirm the e-mail with the link you receive.
The same account is what you’ll use if you ever run a server of your own. There is no separate host account.
Sign in to the launcher
Section titled “Sign in to the launcher”The launcher never asks for your password: you sign in on the website, in your browser.
- In the sign-in window, click Sign in with browser. The launcher shows a short sign-in code and opens nodemp.com.
- Sign in on the site if you aren’t already.
- Check that the site shows the same code, and approve.
- The launcher greets you and opens the main window.
While it waits you see a countdown: Waiting for approval · 4:59. Open again opens the page once more, Copy link copies the address.
The launcher remembers your sign-in, so next time it goes straight to the main window.
If sign-in doesn’t work
Section titled “If sign-in doesn’t work”| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The browser did not open… | The link and the code are already on your clipboard. Open the address in any browser and enter the code. |
| The code expired… | The countdown ran out. Click Get a new code and approve again. |
| Sign-in was declined in the browser. | The request was declined on the site. Start again. |
| Browser sign-in did not work: … | Usually the internet connection. The text after the colon says more. |
| Browser sign-in is not available here… | Sign-in doesn’t work right now. Play in Test Drive and sign in later under Settings → Account. |
Test Drive
Section titled “Test Drive”Continue as Test Drive takes you in without an account. Each session you get a fresh guest name
starting with Guest. You can’t choose it.
Each server decides whether it lets guests in:
- the server’s card says Access: Account required or Test Drive allowed;
- the No account needed filter hides servers that want an account;
- if you try to join one anyway, the server refuses and asks you to sign in.
Test Drive isn’t remembered: the sign-in window comes back at the next launcher start. To sign in later, open Settings → Account → Sign in.
Your account in the launcher
Section titled “Your account in the launcher”Settings → Account shows your name and role, with links to your profile on the site: profile, security, connections, your servers, sessions and your public page. Sign out switches the launcher to Test Drive.
If the moderators give you a warning, the launcher tells you, and it shows on your profile on the site while it’s in force.
If your account is banned, the launcher shows Account banned with the reason and the end date. While the ban lasts you can’t join NodeMP servers with this account. Appeal opens the page where you can contest it.
A ban on one particular server is something else: that server’s host gave it, and it doesn’t affect any other server.
